About

Which echoes do we tune in to? Which do we amplify? Which do we fade out?

I see this medicine as echoes sent across millennia; built upon, remixed, harnessed, and channelled.

I see our histories of disharmony and ease as echoes sent across generations, landscapes, and geopolitical shifts; arriving here in these bodies in this time.

I work with you to turn away from what's ready to shift, amplify what's waiting to be heard, and to listen deeper.

At a time of often overwhelming noise and stimuli, I support you to tune in.

I see my role as a champion of your innate healing drive, echoing its call.

If this resonates, let's work together.

My Story

In 2011 I was looking for safe and accessible care for my mental health and I discovered community acupuncture through the Toronto Acupuncture Studio. I was blown away by this unassuming and powerful medicine. I enrolled in school almost immediately and became involved in the movement to make acupuncture more accessible to more people. I graduated with honours from the SSC & Acupuncture Institute in Toronto in 2015. After becoming a registered acupuncturist in 2016, I practiced at community acupuncture clinics and healing hubs across Toronto including Toronto Acupuncture Studio, Toronto Community Acupuncture, Six Degrees Health, and Roncesvalles Community Acupuncture. I have been involved in grassroots organizing in Toronto since 2010. Along with frontline organizing and advocacy work, I have organized pop-up healing spaces and aftercare for direct actions, and co-founded projects such as the People's Healing Fund, BIPOC Grief Circle, amongst others.

In 2019, I shifted to private practice, bringing with me my commitment to accessibility and my accumulated experience of thousands of treatments. After a couple years of practicing and organizing during the pandemic, in 2022, I took a two year sabbatical from my clinical practice to focus on my own healing, during which I dove deeper into understanding digital technologies and their impacts on our personal, interpersonal, and collective health. (For more on this, see Very Offline Club).

I have a particular interest in supporting folks to have more autonomy and agency in navigating the role of digital technologies in our lives, incorporating the wisdom of Chinese medicine to meet this particular moment. This is an emerging strand of my practice, feel free to inquire further.

As of 2024, I have returned to my clinical practice with more skills and tools to support folks to access our aliveness in an often fragmenting and disconnecting world.

I am a queer AuDHD punjabi immigrant-settler, & survivor, and I believe in the power and necessity of healing in collective struggle. I see this medicine as both ordinary and sacred, and I am honoured to practice it.

My Approach

I primarily practice a methodology called the Balance Method, from the lineage of Richard Tan through Sifu Sonia Tan, which is a style of acupuncture that is known for the immediacy of its results and effectiveness over the long term. This method uses points away from the "sick" area to avoid aggravating the condition further, aiming for symptom relief on the treatment table whenever applicable. In 2020, I was certified as a Level 9 practitioner of the Balance Method, completing my studies at the Langara College. I also incorporate cupping, Gua Sha, Tui Na (Chinese meridian massage), and bodywork as appropriate.

I have advanced training in supporting folks through psycho-emotional conditions, fertility, pregnancy, gender affirming care, and I bring my background in politicized somatics and community organizing to providing trauma informed care.

I especially love working with folks who don't typically see themselves in 'wellness' spaces - working class, BIPOC, disabled, neurodivergent, queer and trans folks. Feel free to ask about sliding scale spots.
